The first red wine that really won me was Salice Salentino, don’t know what vintage. We got into wine after that and picked up our first Stag’s Leap because it was on sale at Froogal MacDoogal’s for like $15, and we thought, hey, this is pretty good! We went to buy more, and we could not find any more $15 bottles … but, a few years ago a friend told me he had an “old bottle of wine” that he was going to dump down the sink, did I want it? It was a 1976 Stag’s Leap Wine Cellars Cabernet Sauvignon, Lot 2! I freaked when he said he had almost poured it out the night before, and demanded that he give it to me. Luckily he did, and we opened it with some friends a few weeks later. I was not going to risk it going anywhere but down my throat at that point. I did keep the bottle, though!
